TL;DR: Run your PLA in AMS 2 Pro for 8h @55C
The AMS2 PLA Temp Compromise #
When the AMS 2 Pro first came out, the default PLA drying settings were 8h @ 55C. It still says that on the store product page.
Bambu didn’t allow you to dry if the filament was inserted into the feeders when the AMS 2 and AMS HT were first released. A lot of people complained about this.
The problem is that PLA @ 55C will soften in the feeders, which would probably cause a huge amount of customer support issues.
To enable drying while filament was inserted into the feeders, Bambu changed the default drying settings to 12h @ 45C.
That’s probably fine, but you can definitely dry better and faster if you take the filament out of the feeders and run it at 55C for 8 hours.
